Russell Arthur Menzie Sr., age 84, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at his home. 

Born on March 13, 1939, in Argos, IN to the late Elmer Arthur Menzie and Goldie Menzie.

Russell found his passion as a produce manager for Kroger’s, working at Warsaw, Columbia City and Rochester, before retiring from the Kroger’s store at Peru, IN. After retirement he and his wife Karen opened The Fancy Flea at the former Cahalan Animal Hospital, where they sold apples, cider, Christmas trees, mums, pumpkins, antiques, and other various items.

Russell graduated in the class of 1957 at Argos, IN where he excelled in basketball with the Argos Green Dragons.

Russell is survived by one son, Russell Arthur Menzie Jr., Columbia City, IN; grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Ferrel, Renee (Ben) Feltz and Richelle (Quinn) Fetters, Riley Menzie, Ryan Menzie and Megan Menzie; daughter-in-law, Norma (David) Garcia, Warsaw, IN; and one stepson Larry Payne, Logansport

 Russell was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Menzie, stepdaughter, Tracy Lee Payne, three sisters, Mary Thrasher, Ethel Copeland, Leona Pittinger and one brother Kenney Menzie.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday September 8, 2023, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Foster officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service. A private inurnment will take place at Davis Cemetery near Burnettsville.
