Sharon J. (Layman) Rush

Sharon J. Rush, 85, of Logansport, formerly of Walton, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.  She was born July 26, 1938, in Logansport to Daniel E. and Elsie M. (Maze) Layman.   She married Paul J. Rush on August 4, 1956, and he preceded her in death March 5, 1989.

Sharon served as a cook for Southeastern School Corporation at Walton Elementary School then later at Thompson Elementary School.  She retired with over 37 years’ service.  She was a member of Walton Christian Church for many years and was very active when she became a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor.

Surviving family include her daughters,  Gayle (Jerry) Long; Deborah K. Sherman and Ashlee Simpson all of Kokomo.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one brother Daniel (Linda) Layman of Logansport.   Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul and one sister, Rosie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
