Allen Hobart Hanawalt, age 93, of Logansport, passed away Friday November 24, 2023, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born November 19, 1930, in Logansport to the late Russell L. and Hannah May (Roller) Hanawalt. On September 29, 1957, in Logansport he married Carol Joan (Siferd) who preceded him in death on July 21, 2019.
Allen retired from Federal-Mogul, after 30 years of service, working in the Inspection Department. He was a member of Tipton Masonic Lodge #33, Webb Chapel Church, South Eastern Iowa Antique Gas Engine Club, Tri-State Gas Engine Club of Portland, IN, Logansport Coin Club of Northern, Indiana and Philatelic Society of South Bend, IN. Allen also served in the US Marine Corps from 1951 – 1953, serving one year in Korea with the rank of Corporal. He was a 1949 graduate of Logansport High School.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth Ann Hanawalt, Durham, NC; one son, Christian Hanawalt, North Manchester, IN; one granddaughter, Emily Hanawalt, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Kathleen Ritter, Fishers, IN; Nancy Logan, Royal Center, IN; two sisters-in-law’s, Bonnie Hanawalt, Winamac, IN; Sonja Hanawalt, Logansport, IN; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers, Russell Charles Hanawalt, Jason Hanawalt and Eugene Hanawalt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery of Logansport.
