Charles “Chuck” E. Luey

Charles E. “Chuck” Luey, 95, of Logansport passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Cedar Creek of Logansport.

Born on March 24, 1928, he was the son of the late John Russell (Butch) and Florence I. (Burton) Luey.

Chuck was a 1946 Grass Creek High School graduate.

He grew up on a farm in Fulton County. He carried wood for the wood stove, fed chickens, turkeys, ducks and milked cows. He worked at Von Tobles Lumber Yard while in high school.  Charles graduated from Grass Creek High School and went to work as an engineer for Penn Central Railroad and Central Paving. He retired from Pennsylvania/Conrail Railroad after 37 years as an Engineer and Fireman.  Chuck enjoyed fishing and went on several fishing trips to Canada.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his children, Rex (Theresa) Luey of Huntington, IN, daughters, Deb Williamson (Bruce Kindem) of Logansport, IN, Michele (Steve) Downey of Monticello, IN, Anita (Ed) Tribby of Royal Center, IN, Kim (Charlie) Gates of Royal Center, IN, Sandi (Pete) Loepker of Tifton, GA, grandchildren, January (Josh) Sickler, Jade (Brad) Herr, Jena (Daryl) Lytle. Ryan (Chrissy) Downey, Cory (Veronica) Downey, Trent (Megan) Downey, Brett (Cait) Downey, Nick (Jeri) Tribby, Aaron (Ashley) Tribby, Tia (Clint) Federer, Brian (Brittany) Gates, Matt Gates, Kelly (Koko) Mangano, Sarah Loepker, Derek Loepker and Taylor Loepker. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, brother, Francis Luey and former spouse Reta Gilbert.

He was also preceded in death by companion, Donna Sallee, daughter in law, Sharon Luey and son in law, Larry Williamson.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center with Pastor Scott Jewell officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.
