Connie Jo Townsend, 77, of Russiaville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born Mar. 9, 1946, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Darrell “Guy” Amos and Gretchen “Gwendolyn” Keith.

She was part of the inaugural graduating class at Lewis Cass High School in 1964. She went onto have a successful, decorated, career as the first female member of the executive staff at electronic data systems (EDS) a subsidiary of General Motors (GM) and officially retired from Howard Community Hospital (west campus) in 2006.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 59 ½ years, Richard (Rick) Townsend, of Russiaville, Indiana, and Amos (dog) too; her beautiful daughters, Tamara (Clint Eaker) Delaplane, of Lincoln, IN  and Jean Ann (Lyle) Snyder, of Russiaville, Indiana;  grandchildren,  Jacob (Bruna) Schwartz, Brittani (Alston) Andrews, Courtney (Joseph) Harris, Breanna Snyder, Chloe Schwartz, Brooke (Brodee) Lipinski; great-grandchildren, Mykale Andrews, Izzabella Harris, Milan Harris, Kole Johnson, Masyn Andrews, Broghan Harris, Kadynz Johnson, and Kyla Lipinski; sister-in-law (mother), Doris Moss; and several nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Preceded in death by her parents, Darrell “Guy” and Gretchen “Gwendolyn;” and sisters, Patricia (Gene) Moss and Jerri (Eldon) Hickman.

Connie loved her family, most importantly the love of her life, Rick.  She loved to cook.  Sunday night family dinners and making Christmas candy were her staples. Connie enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winters, soaking up the sun, with her family and friends while enjoying a “top shelf” margarita.  Most of all she enjoyed being a loving, caring, Wife, Mother, and Mamaw.  She taught us all the meaning of compassion, and how to care, live, laugh, and love, everyone, unconditionally.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14th from 3 – 7 p.m. at Galveston First Baptist Church, 207 S. Sycamore St., Galveston, Indiana with funeral services following on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating.  Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Research or Galveston First Baptist Church in Connie’s memory.   Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
