Jacqueline Sue Helvie

Jacqueline Sue Helvie, 83, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away November 27, 2023. 

Born February 6, 1940, in Muncie, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Zigler. 

She was a 1958 graduate of Tipton Township High School, Onward. 

Jackie married Nelson Helvie on October 25, 1958, at Sheppard Air Force Base. 

Jackie and Nelson lived in Flora for many years before relocating fulltime to Punta Gorda in 2016. She was employed by Carroll Consolidated School Corporation during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s; Avon Salesperson (President’s Club); and Tippecanoe County Veterans Service Office (1992-2004) until her retirement in 2004.

She was a member of Faith Church of Christ (Burlington) and Psi Iota Psi sorority. Jackie’s Interests included square and round dancing, camping, reading, attending sporting events for children and grandchildren as well as senior living activities at Shell Creek Park in Punta Gorda.

Surviving with her husband is her son, Bryan (Luann) Helvie of Batesville; daughter-in-law Gloria Helvie, Rossville; grandchildren, Eric (Christiana) Helvie of Germantown, TN, Jennifer (Neil) Knapp, Rossville and Emily Helvie of Batesville; great-grandchildren Oliver and Coleman Helvie, Landon and Liam Knapp; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Rick Helvie, and sister. Shirley Parkevich.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Onward Christian Church.
