Dora “Annie” (Gillis) Jacobs

Dora V. “Annie “ Jacobs, 95, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Brickyard Healthcare Sycamore Village in Kokomo.  She was born July 5, 1928, in Kinsett, Arkansas to Arlus E. and Rita (Goodwin) Gillis.  She married Robert L. Jacobs and he preceded her in death January 2, 1968.

She owned and operated the Red Fox Inn Restaurant in Galveston from 1970 – 2005.  The Red Fox was a gathering place for many farmers and residents of Galveston to share a meal, tell a story or two and fellowship together.

Surviving family include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Doyle) Pitner of Galveston; her granddaughter, Kylee Pitner also of Galveston; and special niece Terri (Jimmy) Lucas of Kokomo and nephew Jim Whited of Cumming, GA formerly of Kokomo.  She is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.   She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter, Shirley Ann, siblings, Owen Gillis, Edward Gillis, Faye Fye and niece, Gale Whited.

In keeping with her wishes, private services will be held.  No public visitation is planned.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Galveston Vol. Fire Dept.
