Kathryn M. Norlin, 90, of Peru formerly of Logansport, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sun., Dec. 17, 2023, at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru.

Born Nov. 23, 1933, in Cass County, IN, Kathryn is the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Myers) Gallaher.  Her no-frills earliest years on a rural tenant farm left cherished memories, a love for family, and a frugal heart. She and her former spouse, Richard C. Nethercutt, had six children. On Oct. 8, 1977, in the St. James Lutheran Church, she married Ernest A. Norlin, who preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2010. Their vegetable garden was the source of canned salsa, soup, beets, and Chow Chow they loved gifting at Christmas.

Kathryn retired from teaching elementary art in the Logansport Community School Corp. Her personal creations included hundreds of hand-woven baskets, sewn pioneer dresses, quilts, painted gourd birdhouses, ceramic dolls, weavings from her loom, and caned chairs. She was an active member of Logansport’s St. James Lutheran Church and the Olde Towne Chapter of the DAR. She loved her family and friends’ annual week-long camping trip at Mississnewa Lake, as well as hosting large holiday gatherings featuring decadent hand-made treats. She enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk and gospel music. Her heart was filled with gratitude and determination.

Surviving Kathryn is a daughter, Ann (Jay) Powell of Peru, IN; four sons, Kurt (Elaine) Nethercutt of Logansport, IN; Mark Nethercutt of Nashville, IN; Kris (Caroline Davis) Nethercutt of Franklin, TN; Eric (Dee) Nethercutt of Defiance, OH; step-son, Mark S. (Mary) Aaron of Missouri City, TX; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burt L. Gallaher of Logansport, IN; Mike (Sue) Gallaher of Hesperus, CO; a dear friend, Kay Lugabihl; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 23, 2023, at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor K.C. Dehning officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Fri., Dec. 22, 2023 in the Gundrum Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Saturday at the church.
