Mary Lovina Polen, 94, was taken to heaven by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday morning, February 7, 2024.

She was born to Roland and Nedra (Patterson) Dilts on July 8, 1929 on the family farm in Van Buren Township, Pulaski County. On August 19, 1946, she was married to William Napoleon Polen in Kewanna, Indiana. He preceded her to heaven on August 15, 1977.

They bought a home in Logansport and kept making it bigger as they raised their four children, while Bill carried the mail and she worked at Logansport State Hospital. She started as an attendant and left as a nurse after more than 35 years, having attained her Registered Nursing degree from IU Kokomo in 1978.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana, Darlene (Jay) Thompson, and Miriam (Travis Rose) Van Sickle and son-in-law Gary Arnett; her grandchildren, Amy Barnes, Melissa Thompson, Betsy (Nate) Renbarger, Jay (Amanda) Thompson; Gary (Megan), Mildred, and Stephanie Arnett; Brentt (Bethany), Brandon (Brittany), and Brock (Aleisha) Van Sickle; and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her daughter Nancy on April 30,2023.

Visitation will be at Gundrum Funeral Home Saturday, February 10 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. 

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday also in the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
