Richard “Rich” Joseph Offenberger

Richard “Rich” Joseph Offenberger, 82, Logansport, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 7, 2024

On August 12, 1941, in Marietta, Ohio, he was the son of the late of Harold Albert and Mildred Catherine (Schaad) Offenberger.

Following his graduation from Waterford High School, Rich entered the U.S. Air Force where he served in the transportation squadron of the 305th Air Mobility Wing from 1961-1965 during the Vietnam era.

On February 2, 1964, he was married to Nancy Lynn (Turnpaugh) Offenberger, who survives.

Rich worked as a millwright operator. Over the years, he was a loyal employee for The Anderson’s where he worked until his retirement in 2007. He had previously worked for Wilson’s Foods and King’s Oil, Inc.

A longtime member of the Living Truth Bible Church in Walton, Rich had his priorities in the perfect order: God, Family, and County. He was proud to be a member of the Robert Ray Brown American legion post 418 in Walton. He enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving with his wife of 60 years are their children, Stephanie (Scott) Shafer, Logansport, IN, and Kevin (Andrea) Offenberger, Denver, IN; siblings, Margaret Tomblin, Joan Dean, Harold “Sonny” Offenberger, Jr., Earl Offenberger, Mary Rita Blanchard, John Offenberger, and James “Jim” Offenberger; grandchildren, Zachary (Amanda) Shafer, Jesse (Kate) Shafer, Brittney (Daniel) Scales, and Dustin (Livy) Offenberger; great-grandchildren, Noah Shafer, Jovanna Shafer, Beckett Scales, Ashton Scales, Crews Offenberger, Boaz Shafer; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Offenberger, and brother Harold “Sonny” Offenberger Jr. 

Friends will be received from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Living Truth Bible Church, 3017 East State Road 218, Walton, with Pastor Bruce Russel and brother John Offenberger officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walton IOOF Cemetery with full military honors.
