Harry Steven Rodkey

Harry Steven Rodkey, 76, of Walton, Indiana, passed away early Monday morning, March 18, 2024, with his family by his side at Woodbridge Health Center following a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born November 4,1947, in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of the late Ralph Rodkey and Rachel (Sutton) Price.

Harry was a 1966 graduate of Logansport High School. In 1970, he graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with a Bachelor of Science degree Industrial Arts.

On December 29, 1972, in Logansport, Harry was married to the love of his life, Sharon (Isaacs) Rodkey, who survives.

Harry co-owned and operated Modern Graphics in Peru and Logansport along with business partners, James Clary and Ron Myer.

Active in scouting since 1955, Harry was a Cub Scout who crossed over to become a Boy Scout which led to a life of adventure as a young boy and eventually as a mentor. He was instrumental in helping boys on the path to become an Eagle Scout. He attended the National Jamboree in 1960 and 1964 – the year Harry, himself, rose to the rank of Eagle Scout. He had served as Cubmaster, Troop 2 Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chairman, Merit Badge Counselor, Camp staff member, Chief Logan District committee member, and Order of the Arrow advisor. Harry was the recipient of Scouting’s highest honor, the Silver Beaver award.

Harry was a member of the Walton Christian Church. His faith was a very important part of his life. It sustained him. Harry was the past president of the Logansport Rotary Club where he was the recipient of the Cliff Duchterman Award. He had also been active in the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce. Harry had a way with words, so, along with his sense of humor – he was a fabulous speaker and an excellent conversationalist.

Sailing was a passion. Harry refurbished a sailboat and every August; he would give several Boy Scouts the opportunity to navigate the boat on Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed sailing off the coast of Florida.

Surviving with his wife, Sharon, are their children Bob (Lori) Rodkey, Walton, IN and Patrick Rodkey, Netherlands; one sister, Traci (Jeff) Hubbard, Seymor, IN; grandchildren, Kathryn Rodkey, and Ryley Rodkey; his Scouting family; his sisters-in-law, Karen (Stan) Maloy and Sue Adkins; his brother-in-law, Gene (Linda) Isaacs; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held from 3 p.m. 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.

A private funeral service celebrating Harry’s life will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Tom LaDow will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Burlington Cemetery.
