James L. “Jim” Cohee

James L. “Jim” Cohee, 82, of Galveston, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 11, 2024.   Jim was born to Harry and Dena (Vaughn) Cohee on December 10, 1941, at home.  He married Sandra Jo King on November 25, 1962, at Center UB Church.  Sandy preceded him in death on May 29, 2021.

Jim was a livestock hauler most of his life and worked security for Continental Steel in Kokomo for over 20 years until it’s closing.   He and wife Sandy were members of Center UB Church currently known as Center Community of Faith Church year Young America for many years.  Jim loved driving his truck, it was his life.

Surviving family include his children, James L. (Margie) Cohee, Jr. of Indianapolis; Bob (Karla) Cohee of Young America; and Janet (Jim) Myers of Logansport.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, J.D., Bradley, Cole, Brock (Sarah), Kyle (Mary Jo), Eric (Emma), Michael (Olivia), Dylan (Jessica) and Shelby.  He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Tidus, Emma, Bennett, Kade and Aerial.  Surviving siblings include, JoEllen (Glen) Snyder of Logansport and Jan (Rosetta) Cohee of Bringhurst.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandy, and sisters, June Anne Stafford and Jean Beamer.

Visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at Center Community of Faith Church, 1475 E. CR 1125 S. Galveston, Indiana with Pastor John Newman officiating.  Burial will follow at Center Cemetery on the Church grounds immediately following services.  The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Elara Caring Hospice for their care of Jim.
