Richard “Dick” T. Samuels, 85, Logansport, passed from this life on Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by his family in his home. He was reunited with this eternal companion and wife, Sharon A. (Thomas) Samuels, with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2020.

Richard was born December 10, 1938, in his family’s home in Logansport, to Earl and Emma (Mayhew) Samuels, who are both deceased.

A 1956 graduate of Logansport High School, Dick had earned his certification as an HVAC technician at the Ed Grace Company in Lafayette.

Richard owned and operated Sam’s Inc., providing heating and air-conditioning services to many – from 1973 until he closed his business – retiring to care for his wife.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he had served in many leadership positions.

Richard is survived by his six daughters “who each has a brother”: Tamela Samuels, Logansport, Michelle (Kurt) Konow, Naperville, Illinois, Jonni (Brent) Kepner, Logansport, Monique Outzen, Plainfield. Troy (Jennifer) Samuels, Nokomis, Florida; Tracey (Tom) Puckett, Rochester, and Amy (Stephen) Rowbury, American Fork, Utah; 30 grandchildren; James (Joie) Montgomery, Kristin Montgomery (Richard), Landon (Bibi) Montgomery, Jana Montgomery (Beto), Elle Lund aka “Sarah Carrier”, Carrington (Katie) Konow, Antoinette (Jeremy) Skaar, Hillary Hall, Bryce Kepner, Chelsey Kepner, Maryssa (Drew) Shaver, Emma (Joe) Carden, Andrew Jackson (fiancée, Gabrielle), Dylan Jackson, Sierra Outzen, Tyra Outzen, Taz Outzen, Ryan (Alisha) Samuels, Coby (Emily) Samuels, Tadd (Samantha) Hettinger, Nicole (Tom) Davidson, Christopher (Heather) Holloway, Alyssa (Douglas) Harper, Nate Holloway, Erin (Ben) Reason, Brad (Christie) Puckett, Wes (Allison) Puckett, Eloise Rowbury, Lydia Rowbury, Gracie Rowbury and Jeremiah Rowbury; forty-three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roger Samuels and Harry Samuels; sister, Doris Packard-Ealy; son-in-law, Ty Outzen; and two great-grandchildren, Ian Drummond and Tinsleigh Holloway.

A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Friends will be received from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
