Statement from State Sen. Stacey Donato on conclusion of 2024 legislative session

Last Updated on March 10, 2024 by Office of Indiana Senator Stacey Donato

State Sen. Stacey Donato (R-Logansport) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2024 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE – “The 2024 legislative session has come to an end, and I am proud to have worked on a number of bills to benefit Hoosiers across the state.

Senate Enrolled Act 282, which I authored, would require a school to establish and implement a prevention policy to address truancy before a child becomes a habitual truant in order to minimize the need for referrals to juvenile courts.

“I am grateful that SEA 282 passed the General Assembly and heads to the governor’s desk for further consideration.

“I also supported House Enrolled Act 1004, which would provide a 13th check for those who retire before July 1, 2025, and a 1% annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for many public retirees who retire after that date. It would also allow a 13th check to be provided to public retirees in 2024.

“Public retirees like state police officers, teachers and retired state employees who have dedicated their lives and careers to public service will benefit from this bill, and I am encouraged to see that happening.
