Garry Francis Day

Garry Francis Day, 78, of Greentown, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Ascension /St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born November 1, 1945, in Galveston to Frank and Dorothy (Smith) Day.  His stepmother was Phyllis Day.

Garry was a 1963 graduate of Kokomo High School and was a member of the sheet metal workers Local 20.  He retired as Shop Foreman from Grave’s Sheet Metal in Kokomo with over 30 years of service.   His hobby’s included fishing, gardening, hunting, bird watching and wine making.  He also loved to travel.

Surviving family include his children, David R. (Jim Coblentz) Day of Indianapolis, Deborah Cooley of New Palestine, and Patricia Day of Kokomo.  Grandchildren include, Zackary Myers of Washington D.C., Madison Myers, Ethan Day and Logan Day, all of Kokomo.  Garry is also survived by two sisters, Becky Dieselburg of Kokomo and Pamela (Jeff) Vaughn of Fairview Heights, IL.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepmother, sister Janet Stahl and son-in-law Ted Cooley.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Collins officiating and burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.    Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or Charity of Donor’s Choice.    Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
