Richard “Dick” Sims, age 91, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2024, in Logansport.

Dick was born June 9, 1932, in Winona Lake, IN to Grover and Clara (Wells) Sims. On October 8, 1955, he married Ann Hughes, who survives. They enjoyed sixty-eight years together, spending winters in Ft. Myers, FL, during their retirement.

In 1953, he moved to Logansport and established the Dick Sims Agency, selling crop insurance. He was active at Calvary Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and taught Sunday school. He served many roles in the community including Cass County Council member and United Way campaign chairman (1983). Dick was an avid runner and cyclist, completing several marathons, cycling events and triathlons. He and Ann logged thousands of miles on their tandem bicycle. They were generous supporters of many causes and projects, including the Sims Family Connector trail connecting the River Bluff Trail to Huston Park.

Surviving with his wife are children, Debra (Jack) Pitkin of Chattanooga, TN, Sherry (Ken) Hendricks of Grand Rapids, MI, and Stephen (Heide) Sims of Logansport. Grandchildren, Caleb (Samantha) Pitkin, Matthew Hendricks, Lisa (Brandon) Foote, Kristen (J.D.) Smith, Rachel (David) Forman; four great-grandchildren, Lazarus Pitkin, Jules Smith, Abigail Foote, Gracelyn Foote; sister Ginevra Williams of North Port, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are siblings, Billie Emslie, Grover Sims, Jr., Jean Silveus, and Claudia Sims.

Visitation is Wednesday, May 1st, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is at Calvary Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 2nd at 3:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at the church.

Memorial contributions in Dick’s memory may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 Spencer Street, Logansport 46947.
