Francis R. Luey

Francis R. Luey, 90 of Logansport, passed away at 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport after a short hospitalization   He was the son of the late Russell and Florence (Burton) Luey, born May 27, 1933.  Francis grew up on a hundred-year-old farm near Lucerne, IN. He aided his parents in farming and at one time he thought about farming as a career.

Francis was a graduate of Grass Creek High School where he played every sport offered. During the summer before his senior year, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and continued with the company after graduation as a brakeman for 37 years. He retired in 1996 as a conductor for Amtrak passenger railroad.

Francis enjoyed attending sporting events and was fond of the Cubs. He loved following the stock market and investments. He belonged to the Elks for many years, enjoyed playing cards, and made weekly trips to the casino with his friend Bud.

On June 28, 1978, he married Elizabeth (Corcoran) Luey who preceded in him in death on March 25, 2013.

Survivors include children, Mark Luey of North Carolina, Marsha Luey (Tom Stovall) of Tennessee, stepson, Matt Wickersham (Denise) of Logansport, grandchildren, Molly, Tess, Ben, Katy, Eli, and great grandchildren, Mekhi, Owen, Owen, and Sloane

 Francis was preceded in death by daughter, Marcheta Luey and brother, Charles Luey.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, 119 E. Market, Logansport, Indiana.

A private burial will be at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.
