Thomas Franklin Denny passed peacefully in his home the morning of May 3, 2024, after a short illness. He was 78.
He was born July 2, 1945, in Royal Center, Indiana, to Simon and Ruby Denny. He attended school in Lake Cicott and Royal Center, Indiana.
Tom married the love of his life, Jan Crippen, on June 6, 1964. They had 2 daughters, Robyn and Rhonda.
Tom worked as a laborer and hod carrier until he became disabled while working on the 3rd Street bridge when it collapsed.
He had a passion for cooking and would often cook for the Logansport Shrine Club where he was a member. He was a Mason and belonged to the 3rd Wheel Patrol. Tom and Jan made all the Christmas wreaths the 3rd Wheel Patrol sold. He loved driving children to the Shrine Hospital in Chicago.
Tom was an avid coon hunter when he was younger and enjoyed taking his daughters with him. He loved fishing in Minnesota, especially on the Dora Lake bridge, where most of his fish tales originated. Anyone that knew Tom knew he loved to tell exaggerated fish stories. He never knew a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone that would listen. You would have thought he had known them forever. He also liked to spend his time gardening and mowing. He was happiest spending time with his family and his dog.
He is very much missed by his wife, Jan; his daughters Robyn (Jake) Sweedman and Rhonda (George) Hauck, both of Bigfork, MN; 4 grandchildren Cody, Logansport, Aaron (Erika), Zion, IL, Jerry, Bigfork, MN, and his baby girl, Shantel Tyler-Denny, Logansport; 10 great-grandchildren, Colten, Royce, Angel, Amani, Denzel, Ruth, Avayah, Ariah, Dario, and Diego; sister-in-law, Jean Denny, Squaw Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the last of 12 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings: Forest (Ike), Glenn, June Hufford, Norman (Big Dick), Don, Si, Betty Rose, Bonnie Sibley, Ben, Leah Milner, and Dicky Richard (Little Dick).
His family is honoring his request of having no funeral service. They plan to have a family gathering later.
