Tim Sholty, of Franklin, IN (formerly of Logansport), passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 17, 2024.

Born in Logansport on March 8, 1956, Tim was the son of the late Charles “Bud” Sholty and Martha “Gussie” Dutchess Sholty.

Tim graduated from Logansport High School in 1974. He worked at Logan Stampings for 27 years, starting out in machine set-up and eventually moving up to Purchasing Manager.

He later worked as a salesman for Baker Specialty and Kokomo Auto World. He spent several years moonlighting as a Pizza Hut delivery driver. Tim met his wife, Janet (Schneider), in 7th grade where they became friends and later started dating in their junior year of high school. They were married November 29, 1986 by Reverend Ken Marsh in Walton Christian Church, the lifelong church of Tim’s beloved grandparents, Meredith and Anna Dutchess. Tim and Janet had two beautiful daughters, Caroline and Annie, to whom he was very devoted.

Tim was a fun-loving guy who always had a story to tell, usually funny, sometimes not, and was known for his sense of humor and contagious laugh. He didn’t know a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone around.

He gave good advice and was a shoulder to cry on for his little sister, wife, and daughters. Tim loved to take his daughters fishing at Jones’ Lake and swimming with his nieces and nephews at his sister’s pool. He grew tomatoes and flowers in his backyard garden each year.

He enjoyed watching all sports, particularly IU basketball, and was a Chicago Bears fan in their heyday. He loved reading true murder books and  listening to jazz and rock music, especially ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Tim is survived by his wife Janet, Franklin; daughters Caroline, Logansport, and Annie, Indianapolis; brother John (Beverly) Sholty, Peru; sister Stacie (Brad) Angle, Logansport; aunt Sue Dutchess, Noblesville; uncle Pete Dutchess, Connecticut; four sisters-in-law; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews spread across the country. Also survived by his feline best buddy, “Kid.”

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers Jeff and Todd, father- and mother-in-law David and Dorothy Schneider, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and niece Alison.
