Shirley Goodspeed, 87, Phoenix, Arizona, a strong woman of faith, has gone to her eternal home in Heaven. She passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from injuries suffered in a tragic automobile accident. Her husband, Max, was also injured in the accident and remains hospitalized in critical condition. Please keep the Goodspeed family in your prayers.
Born June 28, 1936, in Roanoke, IN, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Lucille Jones. On July 4, 1954, she was married to Max Goodspeed.
Surviving with her husband, Max, are their three children: Stephen Goodspeed (Judy), Brenda Johnson (John), and Michael W. Goodspeed (Tonya). 9 grandchildren: Michaela Cardwell, Jenna Daniel, Jessica Goodspeed, John Johnson, James Johnson, Michael Goodspeed, Matthew Goodspeed, Raleigh Brown and Savannah Brown; two great grandchildren: Wesley and Oliver Goodspeed; and her brothers, Rex Jones (Norma), Gordon Jones, and Kermit Jones (Joyce).
A homemaker, Shirley’s faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her love of family were the greatest priorities in her life. She was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kokomo. Shirley and Max enjoyed 69 years together in marriage. They spent much of their early life together raising their family. Upon retirement, they traveled to all the United States that they had not yet visited. They eventually moved to warmer temperatures – first to Zephyrhills, FL and finally to Phoenix, AZ.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Shirley Goodspeed will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 8th and East Broadway, Logansport, Indiana, with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the church.
