Vera Belle Taylor, 82, Logansport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 13, 2024, in the emergency room at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born June 19, 1942, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late William Virgil Taylor and Vala Fern (Gallaher) Taylor Connell.
Vera was a graduate of Burnettsville High School. She became a registered nurse after graduating from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Vera then obtained her Master’s degree from the Marantha Baptist Bible College and eventually earning her PhD Doctor of Theology.
Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was laid upon her heart at an early age and Vera dedicated her life to missionary work. For many years, she served as a missionary on a Navaho Reservation in Arizona. Vera has been a member and part of the family of believers at the Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years.
Vera moved back to Cass County and worked as an RN at Miller’s Merry Manor and Woodbridge Health Campus before the use of computer charting made retirement very attractive.
Surviving are two sisters, Leota Patty, Logansport, and Kay (Dale) Magee, Royal Center; sister-in-law, Cathy Taylor Hunt, Georgetown; stepsister, Beverly (Calvin) Lehr, Idaville; aunt, Dee Pattison, Warren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Taylor; stepfather, Charles Connell; and brother-in-law, Leland Patty.
A funeral service celebrating Vera’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 19 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Carl Linderman officiating. The North Central Indiana Nursing Honor Guard will begin with a ceremony honoring Vera’s career as a nurse.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery, near Burnettsville.
