Meredith Wayne Zech, 87, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away on August 13, 2024.

Meredith was born on October 23, 1936, in Logansport, to the late Franklin and Vivian (Miller) Zech.

He was a proud graduate of Royal Center High School’s Class of 1954. Meredith served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal in 1958 for his bravery and service.

On October 30, 1967, Meredith married the love of his life, Edyth Lorene (Miller) Zech, in Huntsville, Alabama. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.

Meredith worked for Exide, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute to the workforce at Logansport Machine Company, where he was well-respected by his colleagues.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Edyth Lorene Zech; their two children, Matthew Zech (Carey) and Amy Zech (Jim Sweet); and one cherished grandchild, Jaelyn Sweet. Meredith also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Meredith was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Virginia (Zech) Musall, and his brother, Edwin Zech.

Meredith’s kindness, humor, and dedication to his family and country will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A funeral service celebrating Meredith’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 16 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Candace Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Davis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cass County Community Foundation’s Cass County Honor Guard fund.
