Dorita Ann “Rita” Musselman, 83 of Logansport, IN, passed away Saturday evening, August 10, 2024, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born November 28, 1940, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Pauline (Mullen) Grimes.
On August 11, 1958, in Watseka, Illinois, she was married to James Dean “Jim” Musselman, who survives.
Rita was a 1958 graduate of Logansport High School. For over 40 years, Rita had worked as a medical transcriptionist, as well as a secretary and receptionist in the medical field, retiring in 2007 from Logansport Memorial Hospital.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and traveling. Most of all, she was proud to be the matriarch of such a loving family and enjoyed the time she spent with each of them.
Surviving with her husband of 66 years, Jim, are four sons, Scott (Ellen) Musselman, Colfax Kevin (Nancy) Musselman, Logansport, Brian (Sharon) Musselman, Walton, and Darin (Teresa) Musselman, Logansport; two daughters, Susan Manalo, Logansport, and Kimberly (Ben) Wisher, Kokomo, two brothers, James (Irene) Grimes, and Danny (Lucinda) Beall; stepbrother, Robert Jay (Angie) Beall; sister-in-law, Debbie Grimes; grandsons, Vincent Musselman, Blake (Ionna) Musselman, Mitchell Musselman, Spencer Musselman, Harry (Keira) Wisher, and Robert Manalo; granddaughters, Audrey Miller, Veronica (Brian) Bennett, Meghan (Tom) Mager, Sarah (Matt) McCullough, Olivia (Santiago) Toscano, Lexi Musselman, Ryley Musselman, Mallory (Derek) Bottorf, Gracie (Tucker) McCord, Jennifer (Shaun) Arnold, Courtney Hensley and Amanda Cahoon; great-grandsons, Austin Musselman, Lucian Toscano, Rowan Musselman, Griffin Mager, Chet Manalo, Dylan Baker, Dylan Wisher, Kieson Hensley, Benjamin Arnold, and Brayden Musselman; great-granddaughters, Alayna Nern, Ruby Toscano, Marisa Heston, Kara Hensley, Arryn Bottorf, Mallory Arnold, Willow Wisher, and Kinidi Minnix; great-great-grandsons, Bellamy Heston, and Dominic Gusmane; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harold Beall, brothers, Robert Bannon Grimes, Ronald Grimes and Stanley Grimes; sister-in-law, Ruby Grimes Molden and son-in-law, Manuel Manalo.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 15 in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.
A funeral service celebrating Rita’s life will follow at 1 p.m., Thursday with Dawn Fisher officiating.
Burial, at a later date, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
