Jackie L. Walters, 83, of Logansport, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Millers Merry Manor.
She was born on November 14, 1940, in Wilmot, Arkansas to the late Wiley and Leida (Roark) Pope.
On April 5, 1958, in Logansport, she was married to the love of her life, Richard L. Walters, who preceded her in death on November 29, 2015.
Jackie was the owner of 1800 Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop. In earlier years, she ran the concession stand at France Park.
Jackie’s favorite season was spring because of her love for hunting mushrooms. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed bowling. Jackie loved watching the Golden Girls and.she could watch the same episode multiple times – it never got boring. Totally devoted to her family, Jackie adored being a mom, grandma and great grandma.
Jackie is survived by her son, Jeff (Tess) Walters, of Logansport; sisters, Joyce “Ann” Pope and Leola Anderson; four grandchildren Kimberly (Rob) Wonnell of Carmel, Alicia Hoover of Kokomo, Whitney (Josh) Dearinger of Logansport and Jeffery Walters (Elizabeth) of Chicago; and great-grandchildren Lilah Walters, Cassie Wonnell, Morgan Wonnell, Ava Hoover, Finn Hoover, Beau Wiseley, Cash Wiseley, Trib Dearinger, Veda Dearinger, and Olivia Walters
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard “Rick” W. Walters, brothers, Wiley Pope Jr., Floyd Pope, Lonnie Pope and Jack Doss, sisters, Joyce Lawson Geneva Vale, Francis Knight, Evelyn Langston, Hazel Etue and sisters-in-law, Nancy Murray and Marilyn Hite.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Jackie Walters will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dawn Fisher officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
