Russell G. “Ike” Gordon, age 94, passed away at 2:30 am Wednesday Sept. 18, 2024, in his residence.

Born June 1, 1930, in Indianapolis, IN to the late William Russell and Nellie (Beeler) Gordon. On November 19, 1950, in Logansport he married Betty Lou (Hile) who survives. They were blessed to have been married for 73 years.

Ike retired from Rockwell International/ Matthew Warren after 60 years of service, beginning with the company in March of 1953.

Ike was a faithful member of the Main Street Community Church. He was also a member of Tipton Masonic Lodge #33, Royal Center Eastern Star Chapter #375, and the American Legion. He was the past president of Cass County United Churchmen in 1976 & 1977. Ike loved to do mission work, volunteering each summer at various work camps around the United States since 1971, with his wife Betty. He volunteered doing odd jobs for the church as needed. He also donated time to work with Habitat for Humanity, Order of DeMolay, Boy Scout Troop #202 Scoutmasters, and also was a former volunteer at Chase Center and Millers Merry Manor. Ike was a very caring and giving man who loved his family and would do anything for his grandchildren. He loved to travel with his beloved wife and family. 

Survivors include his wife Betty Lou and two sons, Terry (Linda) Gordon, Logansport; Ron (Kat) Gordon, Logansport; one sister, Geraldine (Tom) Rush, Kokomo; six grandchildren, T.J. ( Cara) Gordon, Jessie (Adam) Perrone, Kimberly (David Corrales) Gordon, Kelly Gordon, Jessica (Joel) Kerns, Kassi (Che) Kerns; three great grandchildren, Macen Perrone, Case Perrone and Colette Gordon; several nieces and nephews.

Ike was preceded in death by three brothers, Emory, Jerry and Carl Bud Gordon and two sisters, Irene McDonald and Velma Hardy.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday Sept. 21, 2024, at the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating. A burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
