William M. Pope, 56 of Logansport, IN passed away early Monday morning, September 9, 2024, in the Logansport Memorial Hospital following a long battle with heart problems.
Born March 17, 1968, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Floyd E. and Mildred I. (Riden) Pope, Sr.
William (aka Bill) was a fabricator for the Moon Fabricating Corporation.
He attended church at The Well of Kokomo. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting, camping and fishing. He also loved watching his son race. More than anything, he loved being a Papaw and his eyes lit up when he heard his grandchildren’s voices.
Bill inherited the gift of storytelling from his father, especially the scary ones. He was known as an ornery teaser by his siblings, children, nephews, nieces and anyone who would listen.
Beloved father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend, Bill will be forever remembered as a ‘Master Storyteller’ and creating much laughter when he was present.
William is survived by four children, Chelley (David) Bussard, William (Shana) Cleland, Cody Pope, and Dale Pope; two sisters, Anita Davis, and Vanessa (Gary) White; and thirteen grandchildren, Trista, Ashton, David Lynn, Brittany, Michelle, Zakari, Adrianna, Trinity, Brenden, Nevaeh, Jazzalin, Michael and Marshall, additionally expecting three more; and four great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Layna, Princeton and Kingston; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Floyd E Pope, Jr., and DeLaura K Baker; and two grandchildren.
A private visitation was held in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
Following cremation, he will be laid to rest with his parents at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Bill requested a Celebration of Life in Logansport in lieu of a funeral. He took delight in seeing his family and friends gather, share food and make memories, a stage for his storytelling no doubt. In honoring his request, those arrangements are being coordinated and will be announced upon completion.
