Gloria Ann Artist, 70 of Rochester, passed away peacefully, but very unexpectedly, in her sleep early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2024, at home.
Born November 12, 1953, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Marion E. Sr. and Dorothy (Rupe) Bell.
On March 6, 1971, in Rochester, she was married to Robert “Bob” Artist, who survives.
Gloria was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Rochester. She loved spending time with her family and she totally rocked at being a grandma. One of her favorite past times was playing BINGO on the computer.
Surviving with her husband of 53 years, is their daughter, Ginger (Robert) McElrath, of Lucerne; a bonus daughter, Lynette Artist; siblings, Marion Ellis Bell, Jr., Logansport, Diane (Jim) Williams, Illinois, and Veronica Lear, Peru; three granddaughters who she adored, Cindy (Gene) Schrawder, Rene (Kyle) Porter, and Clarrissa (Ryan) Railsback; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Finn, Nathan, Jacob, Emma and Eva.
Gloria was welcomed in Heaven by her little boy, Robert Dean “Bobby” Artist, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Nettie Sargent, and two grandchildren, William Earl and Nathan John Robert Porter in 2001.
A funeral service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 8 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bill McSpadden officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
