Cynthia Lou Cox Gentry, 95, died peacefully with family at her bedside on November 11, 2024, at her home in Logansport, Indiana.

She was born in Marion, Indiana, to Miles and Lena Rinehart. She was the eighth of nine children. On May 12, 1951, she was married to Melvin D. Cox until his death in 1981.

Cynthia graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1972, and was a beloved third-grade teacher to many students at Allen Elementary School. IN 1993, she was married to Donald P. Gentry and with him traveled the world, until his death in 1996. She sang and directed church choirs and children’s programs in both Marion and Logansport. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Douglas (Deborah) Cox, Logansport, daughter, Mel Ann (John) Lerner, Bethalto, IL, four grandchildren: Christopher (Jaqueline) Lerner, JoAnn (Micah) Siesennop, Katherine (Devin) Dahman and Dr. Susannah Cox and 9 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Jonathan (Lerner), Annabelle, Wesley, Paige (Siesennop), Alister, Miles, Eleanor and Vivian (Dahman).

Following an intimate family memorial service, Cynthia will be interred at the Gardens of Memory, Marion, Indiana, alongside her beloved husband Mel.
