Sarah E. Gentry passed away on Wednesday November 6, 2024, in her daughter’s home. She was born on October 19, 1935, in Fulton County to her loving parents John D. and Ruth B. (Werner) Eber. On October 6, 1957 in Fulton Baptist Church Sarah married James E. Gentry who preceded her in death on October 13, 2018.
Sarah graduated from Rochester High School Class of 1953. She also graduated from South Bend Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1956; and after she graduated, she continued her career as a nurse working at South Bend Memorial Hospital, Logansport Memorial Hospital and later at Logansport State Hospital. She and her husband Jim also operated their Dairy Farm and were dedicated to farm life for over 50 years.
Sarah is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Perry) Frye of Logansport, IN, Dianne Beyer of Logansport, IN; son, Michael Gentry of La Crosse, IN; three granddaughters, Sarah Frye, Laura Frye, Anna Dunnuck; three grandsons, Kevin Frye, Erik Bross, Gregory Gentry; one great granddaughter, Claire Gentry; and a sister, Loretta Hayden of Rochester, IN.
Alongside her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Philip Eber, and two grandsons, Samuel and Gabriel Dunnuck.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday November 11, 2024, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rochester, IN
A Nursing Honor Guard Ceremony will be conducted shortly before the time of service to honor Sarah’s commitment to her career.
A Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
