Floyd Jay Burnside, age 83, of Big Sandy, TN passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Camden General Hospital in Camden, Tennessee.
Born on June 29, 1941, in Good Hope, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Edward Burnside and the late Gladys Young Burnside.
Floyd was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He continued his service to his Country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was retired from the former Wilson’s Food corporation in Logansport and was also retired from Nabisco in Indianapolis. First and foremost, Floyd loved his wife and family. His favorite hobbies included fishing and woodworking.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra Burnside, of Big Sandy, Tennessee; son, Randy J. Burnside of Big Sandy, Tennessee; daughters, Pam (James) Jones of Camden, Tennessee, Debra Burnside of Buffalo, Indiana, Deanna (Josh) Fitchpatrick of Buffalo, Indiana. and Michelle (Steven) Hart of Ormond Beach, Florida; brothers, Gene (Betty) Burnside of Orlando, Florida, Charles (Sandra) Burnside of Shinnston, West Virginia; sister, Elaine Sue (Harold) Dixon of North View, West Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; and thirty-six great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Burnside Jr.
Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport,
A funeral service celebrating Floyd’s life will follow at 12 Noon Thursday, in the funeral chapel.
Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
