Jeffery Ancil Canady, 63, of Logansport, went to be with the Lord at 3:55 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, while surrounded by his family at home. Jeff had valiantly fought and won his battle with non-Hodgkins’s lymphoma in 2015. This past May, when Jeff was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), he trusted God. Jeff knew whether he was cured this side of Heaven or not, his faith and dignity would allow God to be glorified in his life.
On April 12, 1961, in Kokomo, he was born to James and Geraldine (King) Canady.
On July 18, 1981, in Kokomo, he married Jennifer Kibler, who survives.
Jeff graduated from Northwestern High School in 1979. He continued his education at Indiana University Kokomo, graduating in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Jeff began his career at Maconaquah school corporation where he taught 5th grade. He also taught middle school science and reading. He finished his time at Maconaquah teaching high school special education. While at Maconaquah Jeff also coached varsity wrestling and jr- high track and football.
While in the classroom, Jeff felt the Lord calling him to become a principal and he graduated from IUPUI with his administrator’s license in 1994. He became the assistant principal at Landis Elementary, holding that position for 3 years before becoming the principal there. Jeff went on to become the principal at Lincoln Middle School and Logansport Junior High School. He retired in 2020 but went back to work for LCSC for 4 more years, as the Workplace Coordinator before retiring in May.
At a young age, Jeff began attending Bethel Friends Church, where he began his faithful lifelong service to the Lord. He strived to live a Christian life in all he did. For the past 30 years, Jeff was a member of New Life Alliance Church in Logansport. There he served as an elder on the Governing Board for many years and also taught adult Sunday school. Jeff was a member, speaker and former president of the Logansport Gideons.
Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved baking bread, and many enjoyed his cinnamon rolls every Christmas. He was an avid reader, fisherman, and a beekeeper for many years. Jeff enjoyed hunting pheasants every fall with his hunting buddies and his loyal dog Gus. He was also an accomplished carpenter and woodworker. He began construction work with his father while in high school. He built several pieces of furniture throughout the years. The pieces he enjoyed making the most were for his family and friends. After retirement, he started The Carpenter Bee Woodworks where he made many wood craft items and did laser work.
