Michael Alan Scagnoli, 55, passed away December 3, 2024 at University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana after a brief but valiant battle with Non Hodgkins lymphoma. Born November 15, 1969 in Muncie, Indiana to Gary and Maryann (Bailey) Scagnoli. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1988, where he was senior class president and mayor on Good Government Day. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. He was original owner partner of South Street Smokehouse Barbecue and Scagnoli’s, both in Lafayette, Indiana. He was currently employed at Upper Crust as procurement manager. Mike loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and golf. Above all, he loved cooking. He could make anything taste delicious. He loved his family and friends beyond measure. Mike loved life and was a Purdue Boilermaker fan, as well as the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. He will be missed more than words can say.
Mike is survived by his parents, his brother, Tony Scagnoli and his wife Stephanie and their children, Angelo, Cassia, and Sal; his sister, Jaime Ross and fiancé Jeff Lewis; his niece, Jordyn Ross (Cameron Anderson) and their children Isaiah and Camdyn, and niece, Jailyn Ross; aunts and uncles, Marybeth and Rick Siddall, Phil Scagnoli, Nick and Julie Scagnoli; and cousins, Drew Siddall, Megan and Sam Warren, Jessica Scagnoli, and Emma and John Blumerich.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pacifico and Betty Scagnoli; maternal grandparents, Clayson and Florence Bailey; and uncle, John Scagnoli.
In honor of Mike, we would like everyone to dress casually and, if you have Purdue, Dallas or New York gear, it would make him happy.
Some of his last words were, “Tell everyone I love them”.
Visitation will be held at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette on Thursday, December 12th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be made to the Betty Scagnoli Woodlawn Center Endowment in care of the Cass County Community Foundation, PO Box 441, All Saints Catholic Church 112 East Market St., The Humane Society for Greater Lafayette, or any organization of the donor’s choice.
