LaDinna “Dinnie” Altman, 75 of Burnettsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 11, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at the IU White County Memorial Hospital following a 10-year courageous battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Born February 20, 1949, in Logansport, Indiana, daughter of the late Robert “Bob” Appleton and Mary Ann (Sailors) Appleton Downhour. Her parents named her after the LaDinna clover which was the seed of the year in the farm catalog, but to those who loved her she was tiny Dinnie – a petite beauty with a smile that could light up a room

On March 27, 1972, in Our Lady o the Lakes Catholic Church, she was married to Bernard J. “Bernie” Altman, who survives.

Dinnie was a 1967 graduate of Logansport High School. She worked at the State Bank of Burnettsville for over 40 years.

Surviving with her husband of 53 years, Bernie Altman, is their son, Henry Altman; one brother, Dallas Appleton, one sister, Janet Shafer; one sister-in-law, Joni Appleton; two aunts, Marlene Sailors Remley, and Kay Sailors Harvey; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Max Appleton; and brother-in-law, Bob Shafer.

There will be no public services.

A private burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, near Clymers.
