Mona Lee (Adkins) Costello, age 91, Logansport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11th, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born August 20, 1933, in Miami County, she was the daughter of Harry and Wanda Swank Adkins. Mona lived most of her young life in a corner of Cass County that had a Peru address but a Mexico phone number.

She was married to the late Ray Bean for some time, then divorced, and later married her old schoolmate, David Lee Costello, in 1972, and he survives.

With the old “Brady Bunch” television show being popular at the time, they created their own “bunch”, consisting of five sons, Kim (Kim) Costello, Logansport, David Jr. (Sue) Costello, England, Jim (Terri) Costello, Ray (Christina) Bean and Brian Costello, all of Logansport; two daughters, Monica (Terry) Baker, Nyona Lake, Melanie (Mike) McGuin, Monticello; brother, Bob Adkins, Tell City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding Mona in death were a daughter, Dorothy Winegardner; daughter-in-law, Carol Costello; brother, Bill Adkins; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mona worked hard all her life and provided for her three children until the relationship between her and David was rekindled, just as David had been raising his own five children.

Mona worked in a factory for most of her life but had odd jobs here and there, including one that gave them an opportunity to travel to Hawaii. Mona and David traveled a lot in their nearly fifty-three years together.

Mona and David loved gardening at her old homestead, where she took care of her mother. Mona loved her family and cooking for them. Though her body and mind gave out, her beautiful blues, humor, and “telling it like it is” never did.
