JoAnn E. Ross, age 100, passed away peacefully with her children at her side, on Tuesday, March 4th at Woodbridge Health Campus, where she had resided since 2022.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, whose kindness, strength and love touched the lives of so many. JoAnn dedicated her life to her family and those she cared so deeply about.
Born on February 7, 1925, in Logansport, Indiana, she was the daughter of Samuel C. and Elsie Slusser Cassidy.
JoAnn was a 1943 graduate of Logansport High School and a lifelong member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Married in 1947, she is now reunited with her husband, Charles “Chuck” Ross, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2007. They are both watching over us now with love.
JoAnn retired in 1987 from Logansport Community School Corporation, where she was the secretary at Franklin Elementary School for eighteen years. After retirement, she enjoyed many rounds of golf on the golf courses in Logansport and Florida, playing bridge with the girls at the Shrine Club, and attending the school and sporting events of her grandchildren. JoAnn loved being with her family.
Surviving are her two loving children, Chuck (Gayle) Ross and Patti (Eric) Wolf, both of Logansport; six grandsons, Jason Ross, Charlotte, NC, Byron (Amanda) Ross, Matthews, SC, Allan (Valerie) Wolf, Fishers, IN, Jacob (Kelly) Wolf, Denver, CO, Andrew (Tara) Wolf, Beech Grove, IN, and Evan (Kyle) Wolf, Carmel, IN; and nine great grandchildren, who will continue to honor her legacy by carrying forward the love and values she instilled in them. Also surviving are nieces, Carol Cassidy Link, Cheryl Ross Rothgeb, and nephew, William Waite.
Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Amanda (Jason) Ross; sisters, Mary Cooper and Betty Waite; and a brother, Richard W. Cassidy.
As she requested, a private memorial service for family to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodbridge Activity Fund or Calvary Presbyterian Church in her honor.
Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, where she will be placed next to her husband, parents, and siblings.
Though she may no longer be with us, her love, wisdom, and spirit will live on in our hearts forever. She will be greatly missed. When asked about the secret to living over 100 years, she simply answered, “Just be happy.”
