Mildred Faye “Lucy” Jones, 89 of Logansport, Indiana, passed away early Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born December 18, 1935, in Lucerne, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Iva B. (James) and Dorsey Boyd Brown.

On June 25, 1976, in Logansport, she was married to Henry P. “Pete” Jones. He preceded her in death February 24, 2004.

Mildred was a very loving and caring person. For 14 years, she worked as a CNA at Chase Center.

She was a 50-year-plus member of the Royal Center Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved being the matriarch of her large family. She loved the joy her grandchildren brought her. They kept her young.

Surviving are her children, Angie Royer, Logansport, Cindy Sparks, Peru, and Brian Sparks (Missy Field), Lewisburg; two sisters, Betty (Jay) Shaffer, Logansport, and Shirley Vandermark, Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Carey) Royer, Jessica (Jason) Looker, Jon R. (Veronica) Schirm, Jr., Jacob (Natasha) Schirm, Sarah (Joe) Maloy, Brian Denny, Brianna Coon (Thomas Walsh), and Cody Sparks; and great-grandchildren, Austin (Makenzie) Royer, Ryan Looker, Ethan Looker, Alaina Schirm (John Kemp), Aidan Schirm, Asher Schirm, Kaiden Schirm, Hazel Schirm, Josh Middleton, Ciara Coon, Kyla Coon, and Lyn Montgomery, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, June Secoy, Wilma Scott, Wanda Elain Brown and Lowell Brown; her son-in-law, Gregory Royer; one grandson, Joshua Schirm; and her former husband – the father of her children – Estel Perry Sparks.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport. The Royal Center Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. The funeral service celebrating Mildred’s life will follow with her grandson, Jon R. Schirm, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
