Zoila Leonela Argentina Alvarez Barillas

Zoila Leonela Argentina Alvarez Barillas, 80, Logansport, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, in Ascension St. Vincent of Kokomo. 

Born March 15, 1934, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Alvarez Cienfuegos and Rosaura Barillas. 

A homemaker, she was the matriarch of a large, wonderful family. Loila was the beloved mother of Orlando Saavedra, Edwin Alvarez, Eloisa Alvarez, and Ruth Alvarez. She adored her grandchildren, Gaudy Lopez, Yessika Cardenas, Nelly Albarez, Yuvy Lopez, Dianiry Lopez, Wilder Lopez, Wyner Alvarez, Sheyla Alvarez, Sory Alvarez, Nury Alvarez, Denia Alvarez, Ferlandy Alvarez, Wilmer Alvarez, and Abner Alvarez, and they loved her very much. Also surviving are twenty-two great-grandchildren left to carry on her legacy of love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Irma Saavedra. 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 pm. Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. 

A Funeral Service celebrating Loila’s life will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel. 

Burial, at a later date, will be in Cemeterio Municipal Milla 38 in Morales, Izabal, Guatemala.
