LOGANSPORT – Prosecutor Noah Schafer announced that Scott VanArsdale, 39, was sentenced today in Cass Superior Court 2 for child molesting. VanArsdale was sentenced to 138 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for multiple counts of child molesting and related crimes against multiple victims.
The investigation of Vanarsdale’s crime was headed by Detective Scott Turney of the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. Superior Court 2 Judge Lisa Swaim noted that the victims suffered immense lifelong harm from the defendant’s actions. VanArsdale’s sentence was also enhanced because of the jury’s additional verdict that he was a habitual offender, VanArsdale having been convicted of multiple felonies prior to the molestations.
Said Prosecutor Noah Schafer of the case, “We are very grateful for the work of Detective Turney and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department in aggressively pursuing and investigating these cases. We are also tremendously proud of the victims for bravely facing the criminals who violated them, and we salute the jury who listened to the evidence and held the perpetrator accountable.”
