Jose-Luis Balcallo, Jr., age 21, Logansport and a student at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, in I. U. Health University Hospital, Indianapolis. Having undergone a successful liver transplant eight months ago, Jose died unexpectedly from recent complications.
Born February 19, 2004, in Logansport, he was the son of Jose L. and Evelin Yaneth Balcallo, who survive, both residing at home in Logansport.
Jose was a 2022 graduate of Logansport High School, where he participated in many academic competitions.
He enjoyed music and his Legos creations.
He was a devout and faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church and had been an altar server beginning in his elementary school years. It is often said that he ”loved and lived” his faith.
In addition to his parents, Jose-Luis is survived by a brother, Andres Balcallo; sisters, Natalia Balcallo and Andrea Balcallo; maternal relatives, including a grandmother, Dora Toledo; aunt and uncle, Dora and James Christopher; five cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal uncles, Milton Flores and Mario Flores.
On his paternal side, Jose-Luis is survived by a grandfather, Jose S. Balcallo; aunts, Araceli Balcallo; aunts and uncles, Angelica and Israel Padilla, Leonardo and Diana Balcallo, Jesus and Sylvia Balcallo; twelve cousins. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandmother, Natalia Balcallo Del Valle.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 4th, at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.
On Saturday, April 5th, visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the Parish Hall at All Saints Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church, with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery
Everyone is invited to a funeral dinner at All Saints Church Parish Hall following the burial service.
