Logansport Savings Bank’s Junior Board celebrates successful year of service with two significant community donations in 2025

The Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board concluded their year of service with two exciting and significant financial contributions to the Cass County community.
Throughout the year, the LSB Junior Board members enthusiastically engaged in various community service initiatives on their own time. These hours were tracked and reimbursed by Logansport Savings Bank into a fund for making a non-profit donation at the end of their school year. At their final meeting of the 2024-2025 school year, the Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board chose to donate $1,000 to The Father’s House and $1,000 to the Literacy Volunteers of Cass County.
“We are incredibly proud of the Junior Board’s achievements this year,” said Chad Higgins, President and CEO of Logansport Savings Bank. “The donations to The Father’s House and the Literacy Volunteers of Cass County are a direct result of the hundreds of community service hours that these students completed throughout the year. It is a privilege to work with these students, learning from them as much as they also learn from us. Their collaboration and teamwork as a Junior Board continues to make a meaningful difference in our community.”
“It has been an honor to lead such a dedicated group of students,” said Keirsten Nies, a senior student from Pioneer High School who served as Junior Board President this year. “There are many memorable moments from our Junior Board experience, but this is one of the best. Seeing our hard work culminate in these donations is incredibly rewarding. Because of the research and presentations we did as a group on various nonprofit organizations throughout Cass County, we are confident that these contributions will make a positive impact in our community.”
She went on to say, “Throughout the year, we’ve had the opportunity to tour and learn from business and community leaders who are proud to call Logansport and Cass County home, and to help it grow. These year-end donations feel like our way of being a small part of that, too. Being on the Junior Board has left a lasting impact on me, and I have truly enjoyed the entire experience.”
James Myers, a junior student from Lewis Cass High School who researched and presented on The Father’s House, expressed his excitement.
“The Father’s House provides stable living and essential support to men in addiction recovery, and it’s very cool to see our peers recognize the importance of their work,” he said. “Because of their presence in Cass County, and their planned growth in Miami County, our Junior Board believed The Father’s House was uniquely aligned with Logansport Savings Bank’s own plans for growth in both of those communities. It’s neat to know that our donation will help them continue their mission in the same two communities where Logansport Savings Bank’s presence will continue to grow.”

Mia McKaig is a junior student from Pioneer High School who researched and presented on the Literacy Volunteers of Cass County.
“Literacy is a fundamental skill that opens doors to countless opportunities,” she said. “Our Cass County community embraces its diversity, and the Literacy Volunteers directly support the needs of our diverse community members by assisting them with literacy skills that help them learn or become proficient with the English language Their trained volunteers also help to prepare individuals for their Citizenship test. I can’t wait to see the positive impact our donation will have on their program.”

As a community bank, LSB is focused on empowering the next generation of leaders and helping them see what opportunities exist for career pathways right here at home. We want to do more than simply provide banking services – we want to build relationships that contribute to strong, productive communities in the future.
