Shirley Franklin, age 85, Logansport, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 25, 1939, in St. Charles, Virginia, Shirley was the daughter of Claude and Lela Dotson (Warwick). In 1958, she married George “Buddy” Franklin, who preceded her in death.
Shirley was a woman of unwavering faith and a long-time member of Life Gate Church. In 2013, she retired from A Raymond Tinnerman, where she worked for many years. Above all, Shirley cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Claude “CJ” Dotson Jr., Bessie Dotson McArthur, Susan “Tootsie” Dotson Greear, Ruby Dotson Isom, Kenneth Dotson, Loretta Dotson Isom, and Glen Dotson.
She is survived by her sister Margie (John) Proffitt; her children George (DeeDee) Franklin Jr., Sharon Bassett, and Ted (Teresa) Franklin; Jackie Franklin, whom Shirley loved and guided with a mother’s heart; her grandchildren Jeremy Franklin, Tera (Cory) Furman, Courtney Franklin, Travis (Rachel) Franklin, Savanah (Andrew) Strever, Emily Myers, Alex (Larissa) Bassett, Chase (Taylor) Myers, and Nick (Diana) Bassett; and eight beloved great-grandchildren, Mackin, Zigler, Luca, Kai, Conner, Eleanor, Harrison, and Cooper.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21st, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the funeral.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.
Shirley’s legacy of love, strength, and faith lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
