Herbert L. Derryberry, 84, Logansport, Indiana, was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, when he left this life Tuesday evening, June 16, 2025, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born January 8, 1941, in Conley, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late William Henry and Lucille (Adams) Derryberry.
On June 16, 1962, at the Columbia Street Church of Christ, he was married to Ruth (Hall) Derryberry, who preceded him in death Dec. 11, 1994. He was married April 4, 1998, in the Yorktown Road Church of Christ, to Nancy Lee (Harris) Derryberry, who survives.
Herb enlisted in the U.S. Air Force while still in high school, serving from 1958 to 1962, including a year overseas. Before retiring, Herb worked on the production line at the Kokomo Chrysler plant.
Herb was a dedicated member of the Yorktown Road Church of Christ, serving as an Elder, and also officiating at countless funerals, offering words of hope to grieving families. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and fishing. Known as a true Mr. Fix-It, there wasn’t much he couldn’t repair, and he loved spending time tinkering in his garage.
Surviving with his wife, Nancy, are his son, Steven (Cynde) Derryberry; his daughter, Kathy Thomas; two stepchildren, Susan (Brian) Warwick, and Larry Sullivan, Jr.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
(Please check back for an updated list of those surviving.)
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at the Yorktown Road Church of Christ, until the time of the 1 p.m. funeral service. Tony Lalli will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will be held in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Yorktown Road Church of Christ.
