
Richard “Ric” Morphet

Richard L. Morphet passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2025, in his Bonita Springs, FL home. Born on October 5, 1946, in Logansport, IN, Ric was the beloved son of Wilma and Carl Morphet. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Richards, his son-in-law, Brandon Richards, and his cherished grandchildren, Grayson and Jackson Richards, and sister, Carla Bishop, her husband, Mike Bishop.
Ric was a proud graduate of Pioneer High School and Indiana Central, holding a master’s degree from Indiana University. He was an avid basketball player, having played for the Royal Center Bulldogs and the Pioneer Panthers, reaching the semi-state finals in 1963. He continued to be close friends with his teammates and coaches until the end, reliving the glory days. His passion for basketball continued as he taught and coached his daughter, Amanda.
Ric had a deep appreciation for music, playing the guitar and enjoying live performances. He loved boating at his lake house in Monticello, IN, and hosting social gatherings with friends and family. Golf was another favorite pastime, often playing with friends and his son-in-law. He was an excellent chef and enjoyed keeping his social calendar full.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2025 at Indian Creek Cemetery, 3545 W. CR 800 N. Royal Center.
A luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Berkeley Events Center, 6016 N. US. Hwy 35, Royal Center.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
Ric’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
