Lona Faye Davis, age 94, Logansport, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, in her home.

Lona was born November 12, 1930, in West Newton, Pennsylvania, to John and Laura Brunner.  On March 25, 1950, she married John A Davis, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 6, 2012.  John was the love of Lona’s life, and she missed him dearly in the years since his death.

Lona was a lifelong server to others.  She and John raised four children and also nurtured twenty-eight foster children in their home.

Later, Lona retired as a Social Worker for Area V Council on Aging.  During her lifetime, she served in many different capacities.  When her kids were in school, she was an aide at Washington Elementary School, Co-President of PTA, a school board member and Block Parent.

She was a volunteer for patients at the Logansport State Hospital teaching them life skills in her home for many years, modeling volunteerism for her children.

She served on several boards that worked to enhance the community for Logansport and its residents.  As a social worker for Area V, she facilitated the ability for many elderly people to stay in their homes until the end of their lives.

One of her proudest accomplishments was to spearhead the first mainstream school program in Logansport for her visually impaired son, which allowed him to live at home rather than at a boarding school in Indianapolis.

Lona was a member of Helm Street Church of God where she taught Sunday school for 40 years.  She also served on multiple boards at church and taught and directed Vacation Bible School for many summers.   Her church family enriched and sustained her throughout her life, especially in her later years.

Lona loved travelling in any fashion.  She travelled the United States in a camper, and the world on an airplane and everything in between; if Lona saw you coming, she’d jump in and go with you anywhere.

Lona is survived by her four children, John A Davis, Jr. (Darla) in Logansport, Janet Hocker (Kyle) in Indianapolis, Jennifer Husar (Jim) in Fort Wayne, and Eric Davis (Patti) in Jacksonville, Florida.

She had eight grandchildren, Oden Davis, Robin Black, Laura and Seth Husar, Stone and Cole Hocker, and Nicholas and Sara Davis, along with eight great grandchildren, Athen, Dalton, Colton, Railyn, Wyatt, Haisley, Aria and Kai.

Lona had many nieces and nephews with a special place in her heart for Molly Friedline.  Her beloved dog, Piff, also survives and misses her terribly.

The funeral service will be held at Kroeger-Crain Funeral home on Tuesday, July 8th, at 11:00 a.m, with the Rev. Dean Snyder officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Interment will be in Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.

Immediately after the service, a Celebration of the Life of Lona Davis will be held at Vibrant Event Center, 1100 Riverside Drive, in Logansport

Memorial contributions may be made to Helm Street Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
