Jerry R. Smith, age 80, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Parkview Hospital in Logansport, Indiana.

Jerry was born on September 5, 1945, in Rochester, Indiana, to Samuel B. Smith and Eunas (Parman) Smith. On November 2, 1968, he married Willa E. Gainer in Logansport, Indiana. She preceded him in death.

Jerry retired after many years working as Plant Manager at Logansport Stamping, he then owned and operated his own construction business. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3790 and American Legion Post #60, where he served as the post commander for three years.

He is survived by his children, Kelly Stephenson and her husband Chuck, and Troy Smith and his wife Marcia; his grandchildren, Eric Brown and his wife Ashley, Shae Hildebrand-Lantz and her husband Jonathon, Blake Brown and his wife Megan, Cullen Smith, Cydnie Smith, and Corbin Smith; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Chunn and Judy Spencer; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willa E. Smith; his son, Brad Brown; his grandson, Bo Brown; his granddaughter, Tara Hildebrand; and his siblings, Everett Smith, Velma Harlan, William “Bill” Parman, Dean Smith, Freida Hammond, Samuel Smith, and Ronnie Smith.

The Elks Lodge will begin services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Gundrum Funeral Home, with a celebration of life immediately following. Burial will take place at Bethel Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana with military honors.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Friday.
