Terry L. Dixson

Terry Dixson, 71, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. After 3-years of declining health,
L20 peacefully closed his eyes and relinquished his post to the Lord. 

Terry was born on November 30, 1954, the son of Cecil and Deloris (Atherton) Dixson.

Terry will be remembered for his stories, his humor, service to his community, and the love
for his family. His legend will live on in the many lives he touched.

Terry accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 12 when he was baptized at 9th Street
Christian Church. Later in life, while living at Miller’s Merry Manor, he faithfully attended
Church services, Bible study, and received communion each Sunday.

A 1973 graduate of Logansport High School, Terry earned a degree in HVAC system design and
worked for Baker Specialty. However, God called Terry to protect and serve. Terry began his
journey in law enforcement as a reserve deputy with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department in 1979. Terry
joined the Logansport Police Department in 1983. During his 25 years of service to the
community, he served on the SWAT/Tactical team and promoted to every rank. He retired as
Lieutenant from LPD in 2008. After retiring, he continued serving the community working at the
Indiana Department of Correction, as a jailer for the Cass County Jail, and later worked security
at the Cass County Courthouse.

Terry is survived by his three sons, Bryan (Lisa), Chad(Chelsea), and Chris (Mindy), a bonus son,  John
O’Connor. He was a proud grandfather to Madison (Logan), Payton (Lexi), Bristal, Bexlie,
Mackenzie, Leighton, Skylee (Ben), and Emelia. He was also blessed with two great-grandsons,
Owen Hammons and Kaysen. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Butcher (Gary), niece
Amanda Gebhardt (Wally), and nephew Terry Butcher (Sherry) and several great nieces and
nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Heather Dixson; his nephew,
Travis Butcher,  whom he loved as a son, and his infant sister, Sandra Sullivan.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11th, at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home. 
The Funeral will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12th,at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior, followed by a graveside service at Ever Rest Memorial Park .
