County Veteran Service Officers achieve accreditation from Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs

Cass County, IN — The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) is proud to announce that Tamara Derrick, Cass County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO), has successfully achieved IDVA Service Officer Accreditation, marking a significant milestone in serving the Cass County veteran community. Tamara Derrick was recently awarded their accreditation certificates and a unique challenge coin, designed specifically for IDVA fully accredited service officers, in a ceremony attended by IDVA Assistant Director Tim Winslow and leadership staff.

The accreditation standards, implemented by Indiana, are a pioneering statewide initiative to ensure consistent and high-quality support for veterans and their families. With this program, Indiana becomes the first state to establish such comprehensive standards for CVSOs, reinforcing the state’s dedication to providing exemplary service.

IDVA Director Jake Adams expressed his admiration, stating, “Achieving accreditation marks a milestone for our County Veteran Service Officers, signifying a new era of service excellence for Indiana’s veterans. These officers are now better equipped to navigate the complexities of veteran benefits, ensuring that our veterans receive the support they deserve.”

The ceremony was a moment of pride and celebration, with a group photo capturing the Central West District accredited CVSOs alongside Assistant Director Winslow and IDVA Central West District Service Officer Josh Tolen, underscoring the spirit of collaboration and achievement. Tamara Derrick now holds a certificate that recognizes their commitment, professionalism, and compassion in serving Indiana’s veterans.

The IDVA continues to lead the nation in veteran support, with a focus on informed, proactive service that enhances access to benefits and care for veterans throughout the state.
