Event summary for severe weather and tornadoes June 11-18, 2026

The following information is from the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana’s website:

As of 8:45 pm EDT June 18th, 2026: The National Weather Service office in Northern Indiana confirmed at least 14 tornadoes from surveys conducted between June 12th-18th. Straight line wind damage was observed across the area as well.

    • 2 – Marshall County, IN: Near Argos, Plymouth
    • 1 – Marshall & Kosciusko Counties, IN: From 3 mi NE of Bourbon to 5 mi WSW of Hastings
    • 1 – LaGrange & Steuben Counties, IN: From Near Timberhurst to Angola
    • 1- LaGrange County, IN: Near Shipshewana
    • 3 – Huntington County, IN: Near Andrews, Warren, Huntington
    • 2 – Cass County, IN: Near Adamsboro and near Georgetown/Lake Cicott
    • 1 – Wabash County, IN: Near Wabash
    • 1 – Elkhart County, IN: Near Bristol
    • 1 – Jay County, IN: Near Balbec
    • 1 – La Porte County, IN: NWS LOT Survey confirmed EF-3 Damage in Kouts, IN (Porter County). The tornado continued into La Porte County near Wanatah but weakened as it did so.  We did not receive conclusive evidence of a second tornado on the ground (damage)-so it couldn’t be ranked or logged. However, there is photo evidence showing a second funnel (can’t see if it’s touching the ground). June 16, 2026: Two EF-U Tornadoes in Cass County, Indiana

NWS Damage Survey for June 16 Cass County, IN Supercell…

Pictures and video from, Storm Chasers, Cass County Emergency
Management, and the local Fire Department, results in two confirmed
EF-U tornadoes. These tornadoes occurred in open farmland and did not
result in any documented damage. Therefore, their rating is unknown.

Survey Summary:
On the evening of June 16, the National Weather Service received
numerous reports of a supercell with a rotating wall cloud. Cass
County Emergency Management and storm chasers maintained watch
over the storm. Two storm chasers on X provided photo and video
evidence of brief touchdown in this area. Emergency management,
farther south at this time, also indicated a possible touchdown.
The tornado occurred over an open field with no damage
indicators. As a result, an EF-U (unknown) tornado has been
recorded.

Survey Summary:
On the evening of June 16, Emergency Management and Firefighters
reported a brief tornado touchdown from a supercell that had a
documented history of a rotating wall cloud. A member of the fire
department reported seeing vegetation lifted in this area,
indicative of a brief tornado touchdown. Because the tornado
occurred over an open field with no damage indicators, this
tornado will be ranked as an EF-U; unknown. Airspace restrictions
prohibit further evaluation via drone.
