“Juneteenth is a combination of the words June and nineteenth. It commemorates the day more than two months after the end of the Civil War – and more than two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation – when enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom.”

The U.S. Postal Service will observe Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, 2026. All Post Office locations will be closed. Regular mail delivery and retail services will resume on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Federal government offices and many banks will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026 in observance of Juneteenth.
City of Logansport government offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026 in observance of Juneteenth.
The Logansport-Cass County Library system will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026 in observance of Juneteenth.
