Cass County France Park Update

Last Updated on September 2, 2026 by Cass County Communication Network

The Commissioners of Cass County would like to thank the public for your patience in allowing officials to get a plan in place so that the beach at France Park can be reopened. At this time, it will remain closed until further notice while safeguards to the beach are put in place.

What is being done while the beach is closed includes:

  • New and more signage indicating swimming at your own risk, no lifeguards on duty, no diving off cliffs and no alcohol in swimming area.
  • LU will be putting up poles closer to the beach area so that cameras, wiring, and internet can be placed and upgraded.
  • Emergency phones will be placed at the beach area.
  • Moving the buoys and rope designating the deeper portion of the lake to shallower water.
  • Customers will be required to sign a waiver among other safety procedures and protocols that may go into effect.

In addition, we are now going through the applications and the interviewing process for a new Park Superintendent. Dana Hildebrand has been the Park Superintendent for the past 11 years and has done a wonderful job with France Park. The Commissioners appreciate all of his hard work however, he has decided to take another job.

So again, please continue to be patient while we get these changes put in place.
